The Stomachion puzzle is considered to be one of the oldest in the world. It is attributed to Archimedes of Greece (287 BC – 212 BC).
The puzzle consists of 14 pieces with the aim being to assemble them in the square frame. There are also lots of other shapes that can be created using all the pieces and 19 of these are included in the solution.
This is a puzzle with a fascinating history, it was discovered on the ancient scrolls, the Palimpsest, which were recovered after over 2,000 years.
A very difficult puzzle, there are actually 536 unqiue ways of to assemble the square but finding even one of these outwith the packaged solution will be an achievement.
Made from 1/4″ thick acrylic and set within a wooden frame that comes with a nice presentation cover. It measures 6×6″ within the frame and 7×7″ including the cover.
