Description

Houdini's Torture Cell is a puzzle originally designed by Brian Young.

The aim is to free 'Houdini' from his cell. This is a sequential discovery puzzle where you will find tools along the way to help you through each step.

A design taken from one of the locks on the incredibly complex The Opening Bat puzzle which featured the same mechanism. This has now been produced at scale to allow for an affordable version of a great puzzle.

The Torture Cell was a performance by the famous magician and escapologist Houdini, first shown at Circus Busch in 1912.

The puzzle comes in a plain white box and does include step by step instructions.

Very Fun Multi Step Puzzle

We love the Houdini Torture Cell puzzle. A relatively easy first step gives you a bit of momentum and then it takes some logical thinking to work through the next steps!

Beautiful and fun

I love this little thing. As another review said, the little rubber tube isn't cut evenly, but I believe this is a deliberate design choice, because the tube expands when inside the puzzle and holds it together via friction when not in use. In any case, the thing is an art piece as much as a puzzle and I quite like it.

Poor Quality Control

This is a great puzzle. However, the rubber tube covering the bolt was very poorly cut. The ends look like they were bitten off rather than cut with a blade. The tube is also too long. The end result is the cell does not quite squarely rest on the base and leans when at rest. I will have to recut the rubber tube.

Lovely little puzzle but not sure about the difficulty rating

Really well made attractive puzzle but didn’t take any time at all to solve, Maybe I got lucky but the method of solving seemed a little too obvious . That being said I have no regrets as I like a sequential discovery puzzle and there aren’t enough of them around. This one is worth it for the aesthetic and quality alone..
